Funk-rock icons Red Hot Chili Peppers star in the premiere episode of Love, Death + Robots Volume 4, Netflix’s adult animated anthology series, directed by David Fincher (The Social Network, Gone Girl).

The episode, titled “Can’t Stop,” referencing the band’s 2002 song of the same name, is a six-minute short that reimagines the band’s iconic 2003 Slane Castle headlining show performance in Ireland. However, there’s a twist: Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith, and John Frusciante are portrayed as marionette versions of themselves.

The marionettes, crafted by Blur Studio, and the voice performances from all four band members add authenticity to the animated affair, which, like the rest of the anthology series, blends surrealism with a nod to the band’s legacy.

Serving as a music video in itself, the episode marks Fincher’s return to his music video directing roots, which he explored early in his career, starting with Rick Springfield’s “Bop ‘Til You Drop.” The last music video he directed was Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z’s “Suit & Tie” in 2013.

Fincher, who also directed the episode “Bad Travelling” from the series’ third volume, serves as the show’s executive producer alongside creator Tim Miller (Deadpool). Other episodes in Volume 4 include voice appearances from Mr. Beast, Kevin Hart, John Boyega, and Dan Stevens.
