Lea Salonga To Star In Manila Run Of Famed Musical ‘Into the Woods’

The reign of this global theater icon is far from over.

Marking her return to the Philippine musical theater scene after six years, the legendary Lea Salonga is set to star in the upcoming Manila leg of the critically acclaimed Broadway production, Into the Woods. The Tony Award-winning singer and actress will be playing the character of The Witch, the overarching antagonist of the plot. Originally written by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine, the production is set follow a fantasy-like sequence of events that intertwines the narratives of Brothers Grimm fairy tales.

Joining Salonga on the cast of this upcoming production will be the global theater star Arielle Jacobs as Cinderella, Eugene Domingo as Jack’s Mother, Joaquin Pedro Valdes as Cinderella’s Prince and the Wolf, Nyoy Volante as the Baker, and Mikkie Bradshaw-Volante as the Baker’s Wife. Lea Salonga’s latest stage act dates back to last year with her well-renowned Request sa Radyo with the Golden Globe and BAFTA nominee, Dolly de Leon.
