Kendrick Lamar Earns Emmy Nominations For Super Bowl 2025 Performance

Kendrick Lamar continues to make history, as his electrifying Super Bowl LIX halftime show performance has earned four nominations at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards.

The multi-time Grammy-winning artist’s performance is nominated in the following categories: Outstanding Variety Special (Live), Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special, Outstanding Music Direction, and Outstanding Choreography (Variety/Reality).

The performance featured appearances from SZA, Samuel L. Jackson, Mustard, and Serena Williams. Meanwhile, one of the major highlights of the night was Lamar performing his controversial diss track, “Not Like Us,” aimed at fellow rapper Drake.

The performance drew a record audience of 133.5 million viewers and featured his hits from his sixth studio album, GNX.

Lamar isn’t new to his Super Bowl performances receiving Emmy nominations. In 2022, he won Emmys for the Super Bowl LVI halftime show, winning Outstanding Variety Special (Live), Outstanding Music Direction, and Outstanding Production Design for a Variety Special (now all technically part of the Creative Arts Emmys).

The Compton-born rapper performed alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Mary J. Blige, while 50 Cent made a surprise appearance and Anderson .Paak was a special guest.

Lamar will compete with Beyoncé in the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) category for her halftime performance during the NFL Baltimore Ravens-Houston Texans game on Christmas Day 2024.

The Primetime Emmy Awards will air on September 15, 2025 (PH Time).
