Katy Perry has reacted to a viral cover of her emotional ballad “Thinking of You,” performed by Filipino singer-actress Jayda Avanzado, or Jayda, which gained significant attention on social media.
The cover has amassed over 15 million views on TikTok and Instagram as of this writing. It received praise but was also criticized for the singer’s “airy” vocals and breathing technique. But despite this, she received the validation that mattered most.
“When I’m listening to my version of ‘Thinking Of You,’ I’m thinking of your version of ‘Thinking Of You,'” the pop star comments. Soon after, Jayda, who is a fan and KatyCat herself, posted a reaction video to this interaction.
“Katy, you don’t know how much it means to me. Thank you so much. I really appreciate you acknowledging my cover,” she said. “You’re one of my biggest influences ever – as an artist and as a vocalist. It means the world to me, so thank you! Thank you!”
The daughter of OPM icons Dingdong Avanzado and Jessa Zaragoza, Jayda started her music career in 2018 with the release of her debut extended play (EP), In My Room. Since then, she has released two full-length albums: Bahagi in 2021 and Sad Girl Hours in 2024.
In November 2025, she released the single, “Babala,” which is part of the soundtrack to the VivaOne detective television series, Project LOKI, a live-action adaptation of the popular Wattpad story of the same name.
She is currently signed to Republic Records Philippines and was previously signed to Star Music.
