KATSEYE just announced a special collaboration with Mattel’s Monster High — having released their own rendition of the multimedia doll brand’s theme song, “Fright Song.”

The group also released a corresponding music video for the track, which sees each of them dressed in costumes that reflect their own Monster High personas (cleverly paired to their respective cultures), such as Sophia’s Manananggal, Lara’s Rakshasa, Megan’s Húli Jīng, Yoonchae’s Jangsanbeom, and Manon’s homage to the legendary Mami Wata.

“KATSEYE embodies our core values of Monster High — bold creativity, fearless self-expression, and a commitment to lifting up others,” said Mattel’s Krista Berger, Senior Vice President of Barbie and Global Head of Dolls, in an official press statement. “KATSEYE grew up as fans of the brand. We’re thrilled that this collaboration brings our iconic Monster High anthem to life in a whole new way, while continuing our mission to create a world where everyone is proud to be their authentic self.”

“Monster High has always stood for celebrating what makes you unique and using your voice to remind every ghoul that they belong, which is exactly what we try to do through our music,” added KATSEYE. “Having grown up fans of Monster High dolls and content, recreating “Fright Song” and designing our very own monster identities has been such a dream. We hope the EYEKONS feel the love and energy we poured into this project.”

In celebration of the collaboration, both Monster High and KATSEYE designed custom one-of-a-kind dolls inspired by each KATSEYE member, together with their own custom lore.

  • Sophia: Her doll honors the legendary vampire from Filipino folklore, the Manananggal. Even with her powers to shift forms, she’s most recognized for the immensely hypnotic weapon that is her voice. Like many vampires, she is at her most powerful after sundown and when the moon is at its highest –– making her powers more resonant than ever at such periods.
  • Lara: Her doll pays homage to the Rakshasa, a magnetic and clever shapeshifter that originates from South Asian mythology. Despite her shapeshifting nature, she lovingly guides her “beasties” to embrace the qualities of passion and authenticity, in order to stand true to their beliefs and who they are.
  • Daniela: Her doll reflects the popular Werewolf, but the main difference is that her lunar energy is activated through the power of her dance. Using the power of rhythm, she lights up any room and uses such traits to influence and lead people in the right direction.
  • Yoonchae: Her doll honors a White Tiger, which is also known as a Jangsanbeom in Korean mythology. Recognized for her powerful roar, her powers allow her to make a strong impression on anyone facing her way, and she is the latest in a line of succession of Korean tiger spirits that is known for their strength and playful personalities.
  • Megan: Her doll pays homage to the Húli Jīng, a popular fox spirit that is known for their charisma and illusionary magic. Like the Chinese fox spirits that came before her, she has the power to command water vapor, and telekinesis that she uses to enact friendly pranks on her friends.
  • Manon: Her doll reflects a Sea Monster that descends of the legendary Mami Wata of African lore. Being a water native, she can summon and command water serpents, with her long, flowing hair moving like the waves –– hiding away a hidden power that’s yet to be determined.

The collaboration between KATSEYE and Monster High follows the release of their second EP, Beautiful Chaos, which debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 at No. 4. Three of its tracks are currently ranking on Philippines Hot 100 chart (dated July 19, 2025), with “Gabriela” at No. 7, “Gameboy” at No. 42, and “Gnarly” at No. 55.
