Filipino singer-actress Kai Montinola performs the Filipino version of the beloved song “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana for the live-action remake, titled “Hangganan Ko.”

A lifelong Disney fan herself, Montinola shares how the story of the titular character inspires her, saying, “My favorite part of Moana’s journey is that she didn’t think she was perfect. She doubted herself at first, but she chose to face that fear. She embraced it, and that led her to accomplish greater things.”

“As a country that loves music, we’re excited to collaborate with Kai Montinola on the Filipino version of ‘How Far I’ll Go.’ Kai represents today’s young Filipinos — resilient, passionate, and warm-hearted — making her the perfect artist to bring ‘Hangganan Ko’ to a new generation of Disney fans,” Allie Benedicto, Marketing Director for Emerging Southeast Asia at The Walt Disney Company, shares.

Considered one of the best modern Disney anthems, “How Far I’ll Go” was originally written in English by Lin-Manuel Miranda, co-produced by Mark Mancina, and originally performed by Auliʻi Cravalho. It earned a Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media and received Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for Best Original Song in 2017.

The live-action adaptation follows Moana (Catherine Lagaʻaia) on her journey to answer the call of the ocean as she goes on an adventure with the legendary demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson) to help restore hope and prosperity to her people.
