Ice Spice is heading to Bikini Bottom. She is set to take her talents in the world of animation, making her voice acting debut in The Spongebob Movie: Search for Squarepants, the fourth theatrically-released film in the franchise.
The upcoming theatrical Spongebob adventure follows Spongebob and the gang traveling to the underworld to square off with Flying Dutchman.
The Grammy-nominated rapper joins fellow new cast additions such as Regina Hall (Scary Movie), Sherry Cola (Joyride), Arturo Castro (Narcos), George Lopez (The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D).
The film will also feature returning cast members Tom Kenny as SpongeBob SquarePants, Clancy Brown as Mr. Krabs, Rodger Bumpass as Squidward, Bill Fagerbakke as Patrick, Carolyn Lawrence as Sandy, Mr. Lawrence as Plankton, and Mark Hamill as Flying Dutchman.
Additionally, the rapper-singer will also record a new original song that will be included in the film, which is currently set for a December 2025 release.
Ice Spice and the world of Spongebob go all the way back to when she released her playful single “Bikini Bottom” in 2022, which has a beat often compared to the background music from the beloved animated series.
Ahead of the film’s release, Ice Spice will be making her acting debut as Marisol Cepeda in Spike Lee’s Highest 2 Lowest, an English remake of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 Japanese classic High and Low, starring Denzel Washington and A$AP Rocky.
Earlier this month, she collaborated with KATSEYE for her remix on “Gnarly.”
