Following her journey to Oz, Ariana Grande is set to join the cast of the fourth installment in Universal’s Meet the Parents franchise, currently scheduled for release in November 2026.
Directed by John Hamburg (I Love You, Man, Why Him?), who co-wrote the previous films in the series, the sequel reunites the original cast, including Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, Teri Polo, and Blythe Danner. Meanwhile, plot details and the role of the Grammy-winning singer remain under wraps.
Although, Grande isn’t typically known for comedic roles, her early stints on the Nickelodeon shows such as Cat Valentine in Victorious and Sam & Cat, showcase her comedic timing and charm, which would serve her well in the upcoming Meet the Parents sequel.
The Meet the Parents franchise began in 2000 with Meet the Parents, which shows the funny and awkward relationship between Greg Focker (Stiller) and his future father-in-law, Jack Byrnes (De Niro). The film spawned two sequels: Meet the Fockers (2004) and Little Fockers (2010), both continuing the mix of slapstick humor and heartfelt family moments.
As for Grande, who earned her first Best Supporting Actress nomination at the 97th Academy Awards for her role as Glinda, she returns for the second and final part of the Wicked duology, Wicked: For Good, which is set to be released on November 19 in Philippine cinemas.
