NEW LORE have unveiled “I Ruin, I Love” — the third offering from their forthcoming album, following “Kingdom” and “Blue,” both released in August 2026.
Released on September 11, 2026 via Off The Record and Sony Music Entertainment Philippines, the alt-pop trio delves into the complicated realities of love being able to bruise as much as heal, especially as people navigate their own personal struggles within a relationship.
“I Ruin, I Love” marks bassist Kim Escalona’s first NEW LORE track featuring her on solo vocals. In a shared post on social media, the band reveals that the song is the first of three tracks that Escalona has written for their upcoming record.
“There is something tender about hearing someone you’ve made so much music with finally sing a story only they could tell,” NEW LORE wrote. “This one holds the ache of longing for love, then struggling to let it stay.” The band also added that hearing their bassist tell the story “in her own words, in her own voice” feels like a significant moment in the group’s history.
The new single follows their earlier releases, “Kingdom” and “Blue,” which approach love through a more surreal and fantastical perspective. The songs explore ideas of creating a safe space for a loved one, as well as viewing presence and companionship as a language of love.
Together, the three singles lead into NEW LORE’s upcoming third album — a follow-up to their 2025 debut studio album grief cake and their most recent record GOOD GOOD JUJU. In a recent feature for the digital July issue of Billboard Philippines, the band described the forthcoming record as their most intentional project yet.
“We wanted to write about tenderness, protection, and the quiet forms of violence that often go unseen,” the trio explained. “If our first records were about surviving and healing, this one asks how we can build a world where women no longer have to survive in the first place.”
