Ariana Grande embraces a new side of herself with her eighth studio album, petal, released through her personal record label imprint Babydoll Music and in partnership with Republic Records.

The album, which blends the pop, R&B, synth-pop, new wave, and dream pop genres, serves as the follow-up to her seventh studio album, eternal sunshine, released in March 2024. The project also arrives after her recent focus on acting, particularly her acclaimed portrayal of Glinda in the blockbuster musical films Wicked and Wicked: For Good.

In May, Grande described it as an exploration of emotions she was previously “too shy or polite to tap into before.” petal centers on themes of overcoming personal struggles and letting go of negative attachments.

Check out the track list below:

  1. “kiss me”
  2. “hate that i made you love me”
  3. “petal”
  4. “stay”
  5. “oh well”
  6. “big feelings”
  7. “freak”
  8. “warning signs (interlude)”
  9. “like i do”
  10. “never get over me”
  11. “bad thing (bunny hop)”
  12. “nowhere, nobody”

Ahead of the release of petal radio on Apple Music, where she discussed more about the album, Grande shared that the project draws from different sides of herself while embracing a more experimental approach.

“It pulls from many different parts of myself and yet, at the same time, it is very experimental and different for me. I wrote from a place that I don’t usually, which was like an unfiltered rage that I think we all feel sometimes,” she says.
