Maki and James Reid join forces for the first time on their collaborative single, “luck,” released via Tarsier Records.

The track blends alternative and indie-pop influences as it explores the idea of falling in love as a gamble, embracing uncertainty, the absence of guarantees, and the risks that come with it.

The release of the track is accompanied by a music video directed by Ingrid Ignacio-Termulo. The visual depicts the two artists as office employees in a vibrant setting with green and pink colors as they go about their day with playful office shenanigans. Watch it below:

For the song, Maki co-wrote with international songwriters and producers Gaby Ramirez, Pontus Kalm, Greg Shilling, and Shintaro Yasuda, who have collaborated with artists such as Ariana Grande, BTS, LE SSERAFIM, aespa, and BINI.

“luck” continues the “pink era” of the “Dilaw” hitmaker, which began with “habangbuhay pansamantala,” released this May.

The track follows Maki after he brought his KOLORCOASTER tour to Indonesia and Singapore. For Reid, this marks another musical release for the singer-actor and follows his singles “Traffic” and “Richest Man Alive.”
