Pride has always been a time for celebration, protest, and visibility, bringing together communities to honor identity, history, and self-expression.

It offers a space where stories that were once set aside and overlooked take center stage, especially through art, culture, and, of course, music. For the LGBTQIA+ community, music becomes an expression, a gateway to escape, a source of comfort, and a way to be heard, seen, and understood.

For today’s modern OPM scene, queer Filipino artists and allies alike continue to amplify the call for self-expression and acceptance through empowering anthems.

In celebration of Pride Month, Billboard Philippines rounds up 10 OPM songs that uplift and empower the LGBTQIA+ community.

“WALANG KABA” — Marina Summers

Marina Summers is all about being fearless in her 2025 single “Walang Kaba.” The drag performer and recording artist encourages the girls and the gays to show up, be proud, and take up space without holding back. When you need a boost of empowerment and confidence, the track acts as a reminder to embrace who you are without hesitation.

“Nagmamahal Lang Ako” — KZ Tandingan

For Valentine’s Day in 2025, Asia’s Soul Supreme KZ Tandingan reminded us that love is free for everyone, even when society isn’t fully open or accepting yet. “Nagmamahal Lang Ako” is inspired by a friend’s love story waiting to be declared, and the track is a heartfelt ballad that flows through appreciation and understanding of love in different forms and sizes.

“AMAKABOGERA” — Maymay Entrata

Although not originally written as an LGBTQIA+ anthem, Maymay Entrata’s “AMAKABOGERA” has become a staple in queer spaces, leaning heavily into camp aesthetics such as playfulness, boldness, and glamour. As its title suggests, there is a kabog (show-stopping) factor to this upbeat and catchy pop track. Tying in with drag and dancefloor culture, the song has been welcomed with open arms in drag performances and queer communities online.

“Karera” — BINI

BINI have always been clear in their message that life is not a race with this inspirational and hopeful track. “Karera” can also serve as an anthem for the LGBTQIA+ community, suggesting that time and pressure can always be overcome. Rather than life being seen as a competition, the song becomes an emotional anchor for something more personal. This can mirror experiences of identity, relationships, and self-discovery among individuals on their respective journeys.

“Brightest Star” — Brigiding

Brigiding pays homage to her drag journey that saw her overcome challenges and setbacks through perseverance. The inaugural Drag Race Philippines: Slaysian Royale winner sings about finally taking the spotlight and shining the brightest with this empowering and inspirational upbeat track. “Brightest Star” is definitely a song that captures the vibrant and colorful LGBTQIA+ community.

“Sugar ‘n Spice” — Denise Julia

Love is love indeed, and Denise Julia speaks of being attracted to the same sex, celebrating the beauty of female love, taken from her own experiences. Brimming with positivity and love, the sapphic track amplifies the belief that everyone is free to love and choose whoever they love.

“Sikretong Tayo Lang May Alam” — SHANNi

“Sikretong Tayo Lang May Alam” by SHANNi is about love and romance in their most secretive form. It speaks of the yearning to express one’s love freely while being held back by society. The track serves as a comforting and reassuring reminder for queer couples who have yet to find the courage to be loud and proud about their love.

“REYNA” — Michelle Dee

“Reyna” by Michelle Dee is about finding yourself, silencing self-doubt, and learning to say “No!” to those who try to bring you down. Originally written as an ode to her pageant journey, the queer Filipino artist and beauty queen reminds listeners to claim their own crown, no matter the odds. The dance-heavy pop anthem puts the message of owning your identity and standing firmly in your personal truth on full blast.

“Laban” — Maxie Andreison

Drag Race Philippines season 3 winner Maxie Andreison calls for equality and the fight for the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community and self-expression in this dance-pop track. Echoing queer Filipino voices to keep raising the flag for acceptance, safety, and opportunity, “Laban” speaks for itself and acts as an inspiration for this generation.

“Rampa” — Vice Ganda

In “Rampa,” life is a fashion runway where you can confidently strut your way against the naysayers. Performed by the “Unkabogable Star” Vice Ganda, the dance-pop track is all about defying society’s expectations. As an homage to the Binibining Pilipinas beauty pageant, the song uses the runway as a symbol of confidence, visibility, and being unapologetically who you are.
