Launching a new era for the established band, hitmakers Moonstar88 sign with EMI Records Philippines, a sub-label of UMG Philippines.

Under the management of Soupstar Music, the pop-alternative group officially signed a contract with EMI Records Philippines on April 20. The band members — vocalist Maysh Baay, guitarist Herbert Hernandez, and drummer Bon Sundiang — were all present during the official signing ceremony, along with Soupstar Entertainment Chief Executive Officer Darwin Hernandez and UMG Philippines Managing Director Enzo Valdez.

The partnership marks the band’s return to a label setup, after releasing their music independently and through distribution partnerships in the past. Carrying the same timeless sound, Moonstar88 proceeds with launching new projects under EMI Records as they are welcomed to UMG Philippines.

Best known for the fan-favorite tracks “Torete” and “Migraine,” the three-member act is gearing up to drop their new single, “Goma,” on May 27. A second single is said to follow in July. The band are also set to release two albums under their EMI Records, with a 13-track album to be launched later in the year.

Beyond their releases, Moonstar88 will be touring with fellow OPM bands Silent Sanctuary and Hale in Canada this May. The three groups will perform in the cities of Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, and Toronto from May 23 to May 31. Moonstar88 will also be doing a tour in the United States in October.

Formed in 1999, Moonstar88 remains a staple in the Filipino music scene, recognized as one of the most respected and well-loved bands in the Philippines today.
