Paul McCartney has announced his 18th solo studio album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, which will be released on May 29, 2026, while also dropping the record’s lead single, “Days We Left Behind.”
The record marks the music icon’s first album in over five years, following McCartney III, released in 2020. The album is described as McCartney harking back to his childhood in Liverpool and his life before The Beatles became popular and widely regarded as one of the greatest bands of all time.
“I was thinking just that, about the days I left behind, and I do often wonder if I’m just writing about the past, but then I think, how can you write about anything else? It’s just a lot of memories of Liverpool. It involves a bit in the middle about John [Lennon] and Forthlin Road, which is the street I used to live in. Dungeon Lane is near there,” McCartney said in an official statement.
“I used to live in a place called Speke, which is quite working class. We didn’t have much at all, but it didn’t matter because all the people were great and you didn’t notice you didn’t have much,” he adds.
Produced by Andrew Watt, the album has been in the works for five years, with McCartney recording it between legs of his ‘Got Back Tour,’ going back and forth between Los Angeles and Sussex.
