Sony Music Publishing (SMP) has just announced a major change in leadership, naming Roslyn Pineda as its new President, Asia.

Under her new role, Pineda is set to oversee numerous creative and business decisions for multiple territories in Asia, as well as responsibilities for strengthening key relationships and partnerships with both clients and industry partners. With goals to expand global support for SMP songwriters in the region, she will now be based in Hong Kong and will report directly to Sony Music Publishing’s President, International, Guy Henderson.

In an official press statement, Pineda expressed her excitement at taking the role, stating, “I am thrilled to take on this leadership role at Sony Music Publishing Asia during such an exciting time for our industry and our region. I look forward to collaborating with our talented team and working closely with Guy Henderson and Jon Platt to empower our songwriters across Asia.”

“Together, we will foster a vibrant, energetic environment that prioritizes creativity and innovation, ensuring that the voices of our creators are heard and celebrated.  [I’m so] keen to make great things happen!” she continued.

Sharing praise regarding Pineda’s appointment, Henderson stated: “I am so pleased that Ros will take over the reigns as President for SMP Asia, which is one of our most important and continuously expanding international regions. With Ros’s success in the artist development and creative space, as well as her experience of more than two decades in the music business, she brings a new focus to the region to further expand our business into the future.”

Pineda follows in the footsteps of the current President, Asia, Carol Ng, who is set to remain with the company until her planned retirement at the end of March 2026. Pineda’s promotion follows her role as the General Manager of the Philippines, which also follows her previous position as the Vice President of Artists Relationships & Business Development, Asia.

With her experience, she has worked with numerous talents from across the globe — including John Mayer, F4, Leehom Wang, Jessi, Sekai No Owari, Ricky Martin, Alicia Keys, and One Direction — while also signing top-tier Filipino talent, such as Ben&Ben, SB19, and even acquiring ABS-CBN’s music catalogue back in 2024.

At Billboard Philippines’ 2025 Women In Music awards, Pineda was recognized as the first-ever Music Industry Executive of the Year. In her exclusive interview with Billboard Philippines last year, she opened up about what it meant to shape Filipino music with passion and purpose as part of her duties. “Investing in local talent and labels allows us to tap into the soundtrack of more Filipinos’ lives, and connect more deeply with fans. This not only strengthens our portfolio but also empowers artists to thrive in their creative pursuits.”

“In the music industry, markers of success go beyond just commercial sales and chart rankings; they also encompass the cultural impact that music has on society,” she explained. “For me, one of the most significant indicators of success is how a song resonates with people’s lives and becomes a part of their important moments.”
