Spanish musical sensation Rosalía has just released the first glimpse of her upcoming album LUX, with the new single “Berghain.”
The newly released single features the genre-fluid musician embracing a new set of soundscapes –– particularly within the realm of classical and opera. Featuring guest appearances from artists like Björk, Yves Tumor, and the London Symphony Orchestra (conducted by Daníel Bjarnason), the track is one that’s undeniably theatrical, comprised of swirling, lush instrumentation, and dramatic, operatic vocals from Rosalía herself. It also features three languages being sung on the single, including that of German, Spanish, and English, all of which further add to the otherworldly nature of the music itself.
Together with the track’s release, Rosaliá also released a cinematic visualizer directed by Nicolas Méndez, produced by CANADA, and featuring creative direction by Pilar Vila and Rosalía Vila Tobella herself. Check out the full music video below:
LUX marks the fourth studio album from Rosalía, following her mainstream breakthrough in 2022 with the critically and commercially acclaimed experimental pop-reggaeton album, MOTOMAMI. The album spawned the hit singles “HENTAI”, “LA FAMA” featuring The Weeknd, “CHICKEN TERIYAKI”, and the viral hit “BIZCOCHITO.” The record was awarded Album of the Year, Best Alternative Music Album, Best Engineered Album, and Best Recording Package at the 23rd Annual Latin Grammys, and also received the Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards.
According to an official press release, LUX explores themes of “feminine mysticism, transformation, and transcendence”, blending diverse sounds, languages, and cultures across intimate and grand orchestral arrangements.
Just recently, Rosalía collaborated with BLACKPINK‘s LISA on the single “New Woman” from the latter’s debut album, ALTER EGO. The track was met with positive responses from both artists’ fandoms and critics alike, and even reached a peak position of No. 43 on the Billboard Philippines Hot 100 and at No. 15 on the Billboard Global 200 upon its release.
Described by many as one of the ‘atypical pop stars’ of her generation, Rosalía graduated from the prestigious Catalonia College of Music, garnering recognition worldwide for her bold experimentation of genres –– such as flamenco, pop, hip-hop, electronic, and reggaeton. At Billboard‘s Women in Music celebration in 2019, she was awarded the Rising Star award for “changing the sound of today’s mainstream music with her fresh flamenco-influenced pop.”
LUX is scheduled to be released on November 7, 2025, and is available for pre-order and pre-save here.
