Angela Ken revisits the first track she ever wrote, “tayo lang.,” released under Tarsier Records.
Harking back to her early years as a songwriter, Ken wrote the track in 2019, years before establishing herself as one of the rising voices in OPM. Now, she is finally ready to share the song with her fans and listeners.
“hi 2019 angela. the first song u wrote for ur lover is out now. ure a real artist now. u made this song and produced by one of the bests producers and label in the country. i hope ure proud of us. thank God we r also still inluv w/ the same guy hehe,” Ken wrote on X.
Produced by Shadiel Chan, Ken Jezer Umahon, and Abner Badua, “tayo lang.” has evolved over the years, with Ken revisiting and refining its lyrics from the original version.
“The song talks about ‘hayaan mo sila’ (let them be). Kasi sa isang relasyon, importante tayo (Because in a relationship, what matters is the two of you). Kunwari, masyado pa kayong bata; mga ganitong bagay kailangan mong pakinggan (When you’re still young, there are certain things you need to listen to and consider),” Ken shares the story behind the track.
“Pero at a certain point in your life, you will realize na if you really love someone. Kahit anong doubts pa yung ibato sa’yo, o kahit anong unos o bagyo, sobrang romantic man pakinggan, but that’s the beauty of love. It’s between you and that person,” she adds.
(But at a certain point in your life, you’ll realize that if you truly love someone, no matter what doubts people throw at you, or whatever storms and challenges come your way, you’ll still choose that person. It may sound overly romantic, but that’s the beauty of love. In the end, it’s between you and that person.)
