RM of BTS marked his 31st birthday today, September 12, by donating 100 million Korean won each to Seoul Asan Medical Center and Korea University Medical Center to support medical advancement, a total of roughly PHP 8.3 million.

Asan Medical Center plans to use RM’s donation to cover and support treatment and surgery costs for economically vulnerable patients. Meanwhile, Korea University Medical Center also plans to improve its medical facilities and expand services.

“I decided to donate because I wanted to participate in a meaningful cause for my birthday. I hope that [this donation] will be of even the slightest help to patients who need treatment but are struggling financially,” RM shares in a statement.

Also known as Kim Namjoon, the BTS leader has built a reputation for his philanthropic work. It has become a birthday tradition for him to mark the occasion by giving back. Last year, he donated 100 million Korean won to the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs’ “Campaign to Thank Uniformed Workers.”

In previous years, RM donated to the Korean Society of Legal Medicine in 2023, and to the Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation to support cultural preservation in 2021 and 2022.

RM and BTS are gearing up for their new era as they continue to work on their full-group album, slated for a spring 2026 release with a world tour to follow.
