A new Big Time Rush movie is currently in development, according to band member James Maslow.

Big Time Rush, the hit Nickelodeon hit series, premiered in 2009 and ran for four seasons and a total of 74 episodes. The series features Maslow, Kendall Schmidt, Carlos PenaVega, Logan Henderson as four hockey players from Minnesota who are put together to become a boy band.

In 2012, the band starred in their own television film, Big Time Movie, which followed the group on a world tour in London, while also saving the world.

“There’s no promises or guarantees here, but we have a script we’re excited about and we’ve been in conversations for some time now,” Maslow said in an interview with The Cincinnati Enquirer. “So I think there may be a chance that we get that green-lit and shot, maybe after this tour.”

Maslow added that, with Nickelodeon’s blessing, the film would likely be produced through Paramount+. He also hinted that the project would reflect the group’s growth, as they are much older than when they first came into the scene over a decade ago.

After visiting the iCarly reboot set and reunited with star Miranda Cosgrove and the cast, Maslow hopes the new film will similarly revisit familiar characters but focuses on a fresh and different story.

Currently, the band is on the ‘In Real Life Worldwide Tour,’ which began on July 9 in Birmingham, Alabama, and will wrap up on December 22 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The tour includes performances of every song from the series, including tracks that have never been played live before.

Joining them on all tour dates are Katelyn Tarver, who portrayed Kendall’s love interest Jo Taylor, and Stephen Kramer Glickman, who played the band’s manager Gustavo Rocque.
