(e)motion engine are back with a new single, entitled “happy birthday.” Notable for its heavy-hitting, pop-punk sound and reverb-infused vocals, the brand new track from the Filipino indie rock band was released on July 4, 2025 (Friday) via Underdog Music.
“happy birthday” serves as (e)motion engine’s second release of the year after their previous single “boy,” which came out on May 9, 2025. It serves as their fourth release overall, following their debut song “mlb” as well as “Pessimist,” which were both released in 2024.
(e)motion engine were notably one of the artists handpicked by Billboard Philippines as part of its ’10 Filipino Artists To Look Out For This 2025′ list, alongside the likes of Novocrane, Jolianne, SUYEN, and more. We highlighted the band’s inclinations to mixing different sounds and styles from song to song, describing them as “a group whose sonic signature has bite, attitude, and spunk — a welcome combination that we need more of as we head into the new year.”
