Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo has released a full-Filipino cover of the Aegis hit, “Halik” (Kiss).
In an Instagram post by the singer, he wrote, “That awkward moment when your guitar learns Tagalog before you do. Results kinda slap though. Laugh and jam to my version of ‘Halik’ #WeezerGoesBilingual.”
The official Weezer Facebook page also announced that the “Halik” cover was supposed to be a surprise number during their headlining set at the now-postponed Plus63 Manila Festival, which was slated to happen on October 14. According to the band, they tried to “find a place to do a headline show, but unfortunately it didn’t end up working out.”
Insignia Presents, the organizers of Plus63 Festival, released a statement that the festival has been “postponed indefinitely” due to “elements that have not met [their] Plus63 standards.” They announced the processes for refunds on October 10.
Co-headlined by Russ, other international artists that were supposed to perform during the event include rapper Aminé and indie pop singer-songwriter Mxmtoon. Local acts Lola Amour and Playertwo.
Plus63 Festival is an annual music festival held in Cebu, with this year intended to mark their first Manila edition. Previous headliners include Joji, Kehlani, and LANY.
