mrld is releasing a special version of her viral track.
On December 9, the rising Filipino folk singer-songwriter’s label O/C Records announced that mrld is officially set to release an Indonesian or Bahasa version of her popular breakthout hit “An Art Art Gallery Could Never Be As Unique As You.”
Originally released last December 11, 2019, the heartfelt single was written by the “Sandali” hitmaker at the age of 14. Since it came out, the song went on to go viral on social media platforms such as TikTok, eventually reaching listeners in other parts of Southeast Asia and helping mrld build a major following in countries like Indonesia.
mrld is notably one of Billboard Philippines‘ Discover artists for our Folk-Acoustic issue, released last February 2024, wherein she discussed the song’s impact on her career and her listeners. “I don’t think [people resonated] with it [right away] because of me being young,” she stated in the exclusive interview, reflecting on reason as to why millions of people have resonated with the track since its release. “For one thing, ang haba ng title niya (its title is so long).” Despite this, the song has catapulted her to local and international recognition, with mrld describing it, overall, as “a blessing in disguise.”
This new version of “An Art Art Gallery Could Never Be As Unique As You” will follow mrld’s latest single “M.I.N.O.Y.,” released last November 22, 2024. It is slated to come out this December 13, 2024 (Friday).
In other news, it was announced last December 6 that mrld is officially set to perform at the first Manila iteration of the PLUS63 Festival. She will be sharing the stage with American R&B stars Kehlani and Jenevieve as well as fellow Filipino acts James Reid and Jolianne. Find out how to get tickets here.
