Rejoice Buddys! GFriend are officially back.
Following their disbandment in 2021, the K-pop girl group – composed of members Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB, and Umji – announced on December 2, 2024 that they are set to reunite in January 2025 in celebration of their 10th debut anniversary. This highly anticipated reunion is set to include two aspects: a “special concert” and the release of a “special album,” entitled Season of Memories.
The reunion celebration will begin with a pre-release track from the album, set to come out on January 6, 2025 (Monday) at 11 AM (PHT). It will then be followed by the album’s release on January 13, 2025 (Monday) at 5 PM (PHT). Meanwhile, the reunion concert – also dubbed as ‘Season of Memories’ – is slated to happen on January 18 and 19, 2025 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Olympic Hall, Olympic Park in Seoul. Ticket selling starts on December 9, 2024 (Monday) from 7 PM (PHT) with more details set to be announced soon.
GFriend debuted in January 15, 2015 under Source Music – the sub-label of HYBE Corporation that currently manages Le Sserafim – with the mini-album Season of Glass. They are best known for their music that often incorporates symphonic elements and melodic rock into their brand of pop music. This includes tracks such as “NAVILLERA,” “Glass Bead,” “Time for the moon night,” “Me Gustas Tu,” and more.
On May 2021, the members of the group departed from Source Music following the expiration of their contracts, marking their official disbandment. Prior to this, they came out with their third Korean studio album Walpurgis Night on November 9, 2020, marking their last official release prior to their reunion in 2025.
Following their dissolution, members Eunha, SinB, and Umji would go on to form the new group VIVIZ and debut last February 2022 under BPM Entertainment with the mini-album Beam of Prism. Meanwhile, Sowon would go on to pursue a career in acting, Yerin debuted as a soloist and actress, and Yuju pursued a career as solo singer-songwriter.
