NewJeans are officially the first act to be featured in Billboard Artist, the newly launched art book by Billboard Korea.

Last week, Billboard Korea unveiled the cover for the debut issue via their official social media, spotlighting the five-member group — Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein — in an ethereal, foggy forest scene. Shot by renowned photographer Elina Kechicheva, known for her dreamlike, painterly images, the cover features the girls leaning against a tree, exuding a mystical vibe that has quickly captured attention worldwide.

Billboard Artist aims to explore the creative inspiration that musicians share with the public through a combination of multi-cover spreads, photo shoots, interviews, essays, and visual content. In the inaugural issue, NewJeans is likened to the Paninari, an iconic subculture that shaped pop and youth culture in 1980s Milan. The publication emphasizes how NewJeans’ influence resonates in today’s music scene, using a metaphor of birds as messengers connecting the past, present, and future through sound.

“NewJeans evokes nostalgia for the past, allows us to enjoy the present, and excites us for the future. It’s meaningful to be working with NewJeans, who are the most contemporary, resonating with multiple generations, and capturing the essence of various eras, all while being loved by a wide range of people. Their future is even more promising,” says Billboard Korea‘s Creative Director, Woo Lee.

In other news, NewJeans has been nominated for Best K-Pop at the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards, marking their second consecutive year as nominees. The group was also announced to be Calvin Klein’s latest brand ambassadors, as well as Apple’s ambassadors for the newly released iPhone 16. Earlier this year, the group dropped two mini-albums — How Sweet and Supernatural — with the latter marking their debut in the Japanese market.
