Singaporean alternative indie pop bands Sobs and Subsonic Eye are making their way back to Manila for two joint shows this April 26-27.
Announced by organizer The Flying Lugaw on March 3, the back-to-back shows of the two Singaporean acts will happen at Eastside Events Place in Marikina City. They will be supported by BLASTER, Megumi Acorda, The Buildings, The Purest Blue, Cinéma Lumière, aunt robert. Tickets can be availed here.
Often known for collaborating and performing at shows together (and sharing guitarist Jared Lim as a common member), this will be the two bands first time together in Manila since they performed at Summer Noise 2019 last May 2019, a music festival organized by The Rest Is Noise. The two groups performed alongside the likes of Phum Viphurit, Japanese Breakfast, Turnover, UDD, and SOS (formerly known as She’s Only Sixteen).
Sobs was formed in 2017 and are known for their tracks such as “Friday Night”, ‘Telltale Signs” and “Girl”. Subsonic Eye was formed in 2016 and are known for their songs such as “Yearning”, “Cosmic Realignment”, and “Cabin Fever”. Both bands are known for their dreamy and atmospheric take on the alternative-indie rock genre, often resulting in coming-of-age-soundtrack-esque tracks.
While their upcoming two shows this April will be Sobs’ first time in Manila since 2019, Subsonic Eye held a solo show last September 2022 at Mow’s in Quezon City. They were supported by Irrevocable, Matoki, Namo, The Buildings, The Rave Tapes, and Walktrip.
