Popular K-pop acts such as Belift Lab’s ENHYPEN, High Up Entertainment’s STAYC, and Starship Entertainment’s SHOWNU X HYUNGWON will be releasing special content for Spotify‘s anniversary campaign for their “K-Pop ON!” playlist.
In celebration of the milestone anniversary of K-Pop ON! (온), which serves as Spotify’s global flagship playlist dedicated to the genre, the streaming giant is set to launch an exclusive series of Spotify Singles featuring K-Pop sensations ENHYPEN, SHOWNU X HYUNGWON (of MONSTA X), and STAYC.
Titled “My First K-Pop Crush,” the upcoming Spotify K-Pop ON! (온) Singles pay homage to the senior artists who ignited the passion for K-Pop in these rising stars. Scheduled for release every two weeks, the series kicks off with ENHYPEN on February 16, followed by SHOWNU X HYUNGWON on February 29 and STAYC on March 15.
Fans can anticipate more than just music releases, as Spotify plans to accompany each launch with exclusive bonus content on its K-Pop ON! (온) Video Podcast and YouTube channels. The content will delve into the artists’ First K-Pop Crushes, exploring the significance behind their song choices and the inspiration drawn from the original artists.
Jungjoo Park, Spotify Korea’s Head of Music, expressed excitement about the campaign, stating, “Beyond the celebration of our commitment to helping K-Pop travel the globe, Spotify’s K-Pop ON! (온) First Crush campaign is also a powerful expression of how K-Pop touches lives, spreads positivity, and unites listeners globally.”
Since the launch of K-Pop ON! (온) in 2014, Spotify has been a pivotal player in introducing K-Pop to a worldwide audience. With over 5.3 million saves and billions of streams, the playlist has transcended regional boundaries and languages. The playlist’s significant growth, with a 5647% increase in yearly streams globally since 2015, demonstrates the global demand for K-Pop.
The Philippines ranks as the playlist’s third-largest market, following the United States and Indonesia. Other countries, including Brazil, Mexico, India, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, and Germany, round out the top 10, emphasizing the genre’s international appeal.
K-Pop ON! (온) has not only united fans but has also become a crucial platform for artists to showcase their music globally. The expansion of the K-Pop ON! (온) franchise in 2023 introduced the Video Podcast and YouTube channels, offering fans diverse content, including game-shows, interviews, and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage.
