SEVENTEEN debut their latest special unit, V8, consisting of members Vernon and The8, with the release of their debut mini-album, V8.
Why Is the Subunit Called “V8”?
Making their official debut on June 29, 2026, the duo’s name combines the “V” and the “8” of their names, which is also likened to the powerful V8 engine in a vehicle that provides acceleration, representing the duo’s drive and their unique energy creating music and art.
The self-titled project captures the “multifaceted textures of youth — from moments of wandering, chaos, to resilience and growth — across a range of electronic soundscapes, according to the official press release.
For the project, the SEVENTEEN boys collaborated with a slew of renowned global producers: Pharrell Williams, Mechatok, KIRARA, Dylan Brady, Alice Longyu Gao, DPR CREAM, and DPR ARTIC.
“We tried many new approaches, often choosing new directions over familiar ones, such as exploring diverse electronic sounds and using different languages in the lyrics,” the duo shares.
The mini-album’s lead track is “singasong,” which also features a music video upon release.
