Filipino hip-hop queen Zae is back and better than ever.
On July 18, the “Serve” hitmaker premiered the music video for “SUBOMOTO” — her soon-to-be-released single, which can be pre-saved here. The music video — executive produced by Zae herself and directed by Xef Sarita and Neo Bautista — sees the rapper in variety of outfits and matching accessories, performing the song in a seemingly abandoned location alongside a couple of dancers in ski masks.
Initially teased last July 14, the playfully aggressive track championing self-empowerment follows Zae’s single “You’re Mine,” which came out last May 17.
Zae was part of the Pinoy Hip-Hop Class of 2024 — the cover stars of Billboard Philippines‘ first ever Hip-Hop Issue. Joining her were fellow rising homegrown hip-hop artists O SIDE MAFIA, Tus Brothers, Felip, Hellmerry, PLAYERTWO, Illest Morena, and Hev Abi. All eight acts performed in a special episode of Billboard Philippines Studios, which has amassed more than 2.1 million views on YouTube.
“Kapag sinasabi ko sa songs ko na (When I say in my songs that) ‘I’m a boss b*tch,’ it’s because I really am [one],” proclaimed Zae in an exclusive interview with Billboard Philippines. “What makes me different is I’m the only person who can say the things that I want to say, and if I talk my sh*t, I’m the only person who can talk my sh*t like that.”
