Aspiring K-Pop idol Sophia Laforteza led the rankings for the second mission of the Geffen Records and Hybe Label-organized competition series, The Debut: Dream Academy.

The Debut: Dream Academy follows 20 contestants as they compete for a slot in Hybe’s newest and first-of-its-kind “global girl group.” Hybe is behind some of the world’s biggest K-pop groups like BTS, SEVENTEEN, NewJeans, Le Sserafim, and more. The show premiered last September 1 and airs episodes weekly. The finale of the show is scheduled to happen on November 17.

The second mission of the show had the contestants split into four teams, where they were tasked to perform covers of girl group Le Sserafim’s songs. Laforteza’s team performed a rendition of “Antifragile.”

Prior to the announcement of the results, the sole Filipino representative in the show shared, “I put the work in. I feel like I’ve grown so much in my skillset.”

Laforteza emerged as the top performer of the mission, garnering 69,098 fan votes. In the first challenge, she also ranked second, making her one of the leading contestants in the show so far.
