Marking the return of Filipino pop culture legends, the original members of the SexBomb Girls are set to make a grand reunion this December 4 at the Araneta Coliseum, Cubao. Ticketing details and specifics have yet to be announced — watch this space for updates.

The exciting event was announced as a surprise by member Rochelle Pangilinan on her official social media pages, where she wrote in the caption, “Para sa mga pinalaki ng SexBomb! (For those who were raised by the SexBomb Girls!)”

Originally composed of four members — Rochelle, Che-che, Debra and Janine — the SexBomb Girls are an all-female song-and-dance troupe that made their debut in 1999 through the television program, Eat Bulaga! Since then, the group have gone down as icons in the Philippine media landscape, making records for Filipino music as the top-selling Asian girl group in the early 2000s, prior to the rise of K-pop. They are responsible for novelty hits and Filipino pop classics like “Bakit Papa?” “The Spageti Song,” and many more.

In a previous feature delving into the roots of P-pop written by Billboard Philippines, the group was described as some of the forerunners of P-pop alongside the Viva Hotbabes: “Whether it would be on their appearances as dancers or actresses on primetime television or through the radio waves, our local pop culture has been heavily shaped by their campy, almost jingle-esque songs and signature dance moves.”
