Marking the final BLACKPINK member to release new solo music this year, ROSÉ is set to return with her new single, “new trick.”
Scheduled for release on September 18, 2026 at 7:00 AM (PHT), the pop rock track will arrive alongside a music video directed by Dave Meyers, who previously worked with BLACKPINK on the offical music video for “JUMP.” The upcoming visual is said to have been shot entirely on the new iPhone 18 Pro, which Apple officially unveiled on September 9, 2026.
ROSÉ announced the single on September 10, 2026 through a short teaser reel featuring the singer-songwriter holding a lollipop toward the camera, with “new trick” and “shot on iPhone 18 Pro” printed on its burgundy wrapper. A snippet of the track plays in the background, featuring a gritty electric guitar and the lyrics: “Lovesick, I’ll pick my heart off the floor / New trick, watch this, watch this, ahh!”
The upcoming release sees the 29-year-old pop star leaning into a brighter, more playful sound following the slower and more melancholic songs of her previous solo work. Speaking with Vogue, the singer described “new trick” as something “so not sad,” adding that she was excited to channel a different energy while creating the song.
Part of the iconic South Korean girl group BLACKPINK, ROSÉ rounds out the group’s 2026 solo releases, following JENNIE‘s “FALLEN ANGEL,” LISA‘s “SaWaDiKa,” and JISOO‘s “CLICK.” The group also recently reunited for a special event on August 8, 2026, in celebration of their 10th debut anniversary.
Debuted as a solo artist in 2021, ROSÉ released her first studio album, rosie, in December 2024. Most recently, she collaborated with “Ordinary” hitmaker Alex Warren on the track, “On My Mind,” which serves as her second collaboration following her global hit “APT.” with pop icon Bruno Mars, which immediately topped the Billboard Philippines Hot 100 after its release in 2024.
