Regine Velasquez-Alcasid is bringing back her ground-shaking Regine Rocks concert. In an announcement made today (December 6), Asia’s Songbird shared that she will be holding another run of rock-themed concert, Regine Rocks on April 19, 2024 at the Mall Of Asia Arena.
Velasquez-Alcasid initially held the first run of the concert last November 25, where she rocked the stage with her distinctive renditions of “Hotel California,” “We Will Rock You,” and “Creep,” as well as local hits like Eraserheads’ “Ang Huling El Bimbo” (The Last El Bimbo) and Rivermaya’s “Liwanag Sa Dilim” (The Light in the Dark).
Ticketing details will be announced soon.
Regine Rocks was co-directed by Cacai Mitra and Paolo Valenciano. In an interview with Billboard Philippines, Valenciano shared how Velasquez-Alcasid has always wanted to do a rock-themed concert. “Regine was already telling me that she wanted to a show called Regine Rocks. She told me that she wanted to do all rock songs. That, in itself, already made it stand out compared to our previous projects,” said Valenciano.
Created to showcase a new side of the veteran singer, Regine Rocks was all about making it clear that Regine Velasquez-Alcasid is still at her peak. “We had a meeting right after and I told [the team] that that’s my personal goal — to counter what she said and make everyone see that it’s still her time. This is still peak Regine. It felt like her energy on stage, the energy of the crowd… I felt like we achieved it with how everybody responded to it,” shared Valenciano.
Velasquez-Alcasid most recently released “It Must Have Been Love”, the first single from her upcoming album Reginified. It’s slated to be the 17th record in her discography.
