Paul Pablo is back with an empowering new single to celebrate Pride.
On June 10, Paul Pablo unveiled his latest single entitled “Atin Ang Gabi” [“The Night Is Ours”]. In a press statement, the track is described as a “vibrant power-pop anthem” that “encourages listeners to open themselves to a life full of adventures and possibilities,” as well as inspiring them to “press on and embody their beliefs to the fullest.” It follows his single “Hilo” [“Dizzy”] released last May 3, and signals Pablo preparing for more music to come within the year.
With the track’s release, Pablo looked back on growing up and the challenges of being true to his identity as a gay man due to his upbringing in a religious and conservative environment, which often kept him from stepping out of his comfort zone. “I wrote this song to remind myself and my community that the darkness may be scary and unforeseen, but it holds wonders,” Pablo shared in a press statement. “With a sense of community, we will get through the night and face it with determination.”
“Atin Ang Gabi” was first brought to life during a music camp held by Warner Music Philippines. During this time, Paul Pablo worked alongside singer-songwriter Sam Akins, Filipino-Dutch producer Xerxes Bakker, and Davao-based musician Jhay Ehidio to create the track. Mixing was done by Jorel Corpus and mastering by Jett Galindo.
In other news, Paul Pablo is set to grace the stage of Love Laban 2 Everyone! Pride PH Festival 2024 this coming June 22 at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City. In line with this, Pablo has put together an ATIN ANG GABI playlist on Spotify, featuring tracks from fellow queer as well as ally artists. The playlist includes the likes of P-pop groups BINI and Alamat, drag queen Marina Summers, Sarah Geronimo, Jason Dhakal, and more.
