Just a few days into the new year, Olivia Rodrigo has begun teasing a special announcement in celebration of the fifth anniversary of her chart-breaking debut hit single, “driver’s license.”

Rodrigo’s official website features a brand new layout in comparison to the past two years, which prominently featured the branding of her sophomore album GUTS, instead changing it with a cute nod to her debut record, Sour, and her very first single, “driver’s license.” Currently, the website now reads as a driver’s-license renewal notice with an appointment scheduled for January 8, 2026, at 9 AM PST/January 9, 2026, 1 AM PHST (which was the same day of the track’s original release five years back).

The surprising news comes following Rodrigo’s most recent post on social media, where the pop superstar posted a series of photographs welcoming the new year with friends, with one of the photos featuring a golf cart named ‘The Album,’ teasing fans with the release of her highly-anticipated third album.

Most recently, Rodrigo dropped her first live album, which revisits her groundbreaking set at Glastonbury 2025 — aptly titled Live from Glastonbury (A BBC Recording). The record features live renditions of her entire discography, as well as a special guest performance from The Cure’s frontman, Robert Smith, who performed his band’s hits “Just Like Heaven” and “Friday I’m In Love” alongside Rodrigo onstage. While the album isn’t available on streaming platforms, it is available for purchase on digital platforms as well as physical media formats such as CD and two limited edition vinyl variants.

Rodrigo’s “driver’s license” was awarded Best Pop Solo Performance at the 2022 Grammy Awards, and debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 upon release. It also reached number one on both Billboard Global and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts. Just a few days after the pop hitmaker’s historic debut performance in the Philippines in 2024, the track also made its first appearance on the Billboard Philippines Hot 100 at No. 73, more than three years since its initial release.
