Fresh off her album announcement, Olivia Rodrigo ushers in a new era with the release of the record’s lead single, “drop dead.”
News of the forthcoming track was shared via the pop superstar’s social media posts, wherein she revealed its release date of April 17, 2026, alongside its official cover artwork. The cover showcases Rodrigo chewing bubble gum while looking off camera, though her blouse features embroidery naming the single’s title “drop dead.”
“drop dead” serves as the first glimpse of the Filipina-American pop star’s third album, titled you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. The album is scheduled to be released on June 12, 2026, coinciding with the Philippines’ Independence Day. It is also set to mark Rodrigo’s third studio album, and will feature production and songwriting from her constant collaborator, Dan Nigro, following her previous two records, GUTS and SOUR.
Together with the announcement of “drop dead” on digital and streaming platforms, Rodrigo also shared that the single will be released on several limited edition physical formats — including a 7″ ‘chewing gum pink’ colored vinyl, jewel case CD, and hot pink cassette.
