An upcoming documentary film on Oasis — arguably one of the biggest bands of the ’90s — is set to have its world premiere at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, which will be held from 2 to 12 September 2026, at Venice Lido in Italy, with openings in Philippine cinemas on September 11.
Produced by BAFTA and Oscar-nominated writer Steven Knight (known for Peaky Blinders and A Thousand Blows) and directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger will explore the emotional and cultural impact of the band’s music and reunion following their breakup in 2009, featuring never-before-seen footage of the band.
The film tracks the band’s Oasis Live ‘25 Tour, one of the most anticipated rock band reunion tours of all time. The documentary will showcase uplifting moments from the band and their fans, featuring rare insights and perspectives of the band in rehearsals, backstage, and onstage, as well as the first joint interview with frontmen Noel and Liam Gallagher to take place in over 20 years.
Formed in Manchester, England in 1991, Oasis — presently consisting of brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, Paul Arthurs, Gem Archer, and Andy Bell — came to be one of the defining groups of the Britpop era, expanding their reach globally and becoming one of the most influential rock bands. Over the course of their success, they managed to release seven studio albums and classic hits like “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” after which the upcoming film is named, “Champagne Supernova,” and the immediately recognizable “Wonderwall.”
The band’s immense global influence made the announcement of their split in 2009 an especially shocking moment in music history. From 2023 to 2024, both Gallagher brothers began expressing interest in reuniting, culminating in their reunion tour in 2025.
