Today (October 3), Filipino rap hitmaker Nik Makino unveiled his latest single entitled “PANO KAYA,” an introspective track laid over a lo-fi beat. Furthermore, the artist announced on his official Facebook account that he would soon unveil a “surprise” at 6 PM tomorrow (Saturday). Watch this space for updates.
This would mark Nik Makino’s seventh major musical release this year, following “ADIK NA SAYO,” “LAPUK” with Shao Lin, “Mahal Kita” with Yeng Constantino and MC Einstein, “TABE” with Robledo Timido, “DOWN,” and “LAPIT” with Shao Lin and TreyLow Baby.
For “Mahal Kita” with Yeng Constantino and MC Einstein, Nik Makino and his collaborators released a special performance video for the single via Cornerstone Entertainment. In an exclusive statement shared with Billboard Philippines, Nik Makino revealed that the song came about after MC Einstein sent him the song, and he was surprised that Yeng Constantino, whom Makino looked up to, would also be teaming up with them for it. “Mayroon akong unang kantang ipinasa kay MC Einstein, tapos binalikan ‘nya ako nito — ng ‘Mahal Kita’ na track. Nagulat na lang ako, featuring Yeng Constantino! Kaya, salamat dito at naka-featuring ko si Yeng Constantino.”
(“I had this initial song I passed to MC Einstein, then he came back to me with this — the track called ‘Mahal Kita.’ I was then surprised that it was featuring Yeng Constantino. So, it’s thanks to this that I got to feature alongside Yeng Constantino.”)
