Filipino funk-rock band Lola Amour has just announced their long-awaited debut album, which will also be titled Lola Amour.
The self-titled record is expected to be released within the next few months, having been in the works over the past year according to the band. Describing the record, lead vocalist Pio Dumayas mentioned that it will feature around eight or nine brand new tracks –– though the specific track listing and further details have yet to be released to the public.
The news was shared during the press conference for TikTok’s ‘Rising’ event, which happened last February 28, 2024 (Wednesday) at Apotheka Manila in Poblacion, Makati. Also shared in the course of the media event, the band announced the release of an upcoming single off of the record, which they stated will be released soon on March 15, 2024. During the ‘Rising’ event proper, the group performed the unreleased track to the crowd as a sweet surprise, alongside their beloved hit singles “Fallen” and “Raining in Manila“.
Just recently, the band performed alongside Chris Martin of Coldplay during the iconic group’s show at the Philippine Arena last January. Reflecting on that moment, Dumayas shared his disbelief at how things happened –– sharing “Kahit sinong artist ‘di ba, it’s hard to say you’ve performed with an international act in that way.” “After that, we felt very grateful to all the things that have happened to us, and to all who watched.” The group’s lead guitarist, Zoe Gonzales, even added how it felt “unreal” to take the stage alongside an iconic figure like Martin. “It [feels] like a check off the bucket list, it’s a one-in-a-million chance.”
As we anticipate the release of more details for the forthcoming record, make sure to keep watch on this space for updates on Lola Amour’s self-titled album. In the meantime, feel free to listen to Lola Amour’s “Raining in Manila” below:
