Last October 13, Rico Blanco released a re-recorded version of “You’ll Be Safe Here,” originally performed by his former band, Rivermaya.
“You’ll Be Safe Here” was part of Rivermaya’s 2005 EP of the same name. Upon the EP’s release, it debuted at No. 1 on the Philippine music charts. The band performed the song at the 2006 MTV Asia Awards, where Rivermaya were the only Filipino band to perform. They also went home with the award for Favorite Artist Philippines, besting Bamboo, Hale, Kitchie Nadal, and Orange and Lemons.
In Instagram post announcing the surprise release, Blanco wrote, “I heard you guys. [O]ut now on all platforms.”
On October 20, Blanco releases the official visualizer for “You’ll Be Safe Here”.
Blanco left Rivermaya in 2007. Since then, he has gone on to have an illustrious solo career, penning hits like “Antukin” (Sleepy) and “Your Universe,” to name a few.
