KRNA are back with a new single, entitled “Past Love.”
Released on October 15, 2025 (Wednesday), the new song from the Filipino dream pop band is exclusively available to download via Bandcamp on a pay-what-you-can basis. Notably, all sales from the first month of the song’s release will be donated by the band to earthquake relief efforts in Davao, as well as causes supporting the people of Palestine.
“Past Love” is KRNA’s first release of 2025 and follows their previous single “I’m Wrong,” which was released on March 8, 2024. Both songs, as well as KRNA’s 2023 single “Dream Again,” are part of the band’s upcoming debut album Kireina, which set to be released at yet-to-be-determined date. Notably, “I’m Wrong” was included in Billboard Philippines‘ 50 Best Songs Of 2024 list.
In a press statement, the band revealed that “Past Love” is “one of the earliest tracks written for their upcoming album” and was actually recorded and already completed way back in 2020. “We did everything DIY except for the drums, and it features our previous lineup. We do have a new version that will be part of our upcoming album, but this particular recording remains special to us,” the band shares. “It captured that innocent charm and raw energy from when we first wrote it, mistakes and all.”
“It’s about that fleeting, almost surreal moment when you’re with someone you love and they unexpectedly bump into a person from their past,” shares KRNA vocalist and songwriter KC Salazar about the track, which “explores the fleeting uncertainty of encountering a loved one’s history”. “For a few seconds, your mind runs wild and you’re wondering what your partner might be feeling, before you realize it’s all part of life. They’ve lived a whole other story before you, and that’s okay. It’s just a moment, and then it passes.”
Adding to this, Salazar dives into the song’s sound, noting how it “draws from indie and dream-pop influences, characterized by soft textures and a lighter tone compared to the group’s previous work.” “This one feels a bit lighter, more on the indie and dream pop side and carries a kind of youthful, wistful sweetness,” adds Salazar “It’s softer, more literal and whimsical compared to our other tracks.”
