TikTok has officially revealed its Year In Music report, crowning KATSEYE as their Global Artist of the Year for 2025.
As part of the major social media platform’s annual report, which honors the artists, songs, trends, and musical moments that have shaped the year, TikTok had noted that the global pop girl group had emerged as “one of the biggest bands in the world” due to their accummulation of over 30 billion views and spawning 12 million creations that utilized music on the platform this year. The company’s report notes that the considerable traction of the group came from their hit single “Gnarly,” which was behind “multiple viral music moments” on the platform this year.
With the success of “Gnarly” alone, several prominent creators on the platform and artists alike, from Camila Cabello to K-pop phenomenons like LE SSERAFIM, ENHYPEN, and TOMORROW X TOGETHER, generated further interest, clicks, and interactions on TikTok for the group, allowing them to reach new audiences and fanbases worldwide. TikTok noted that such results included 2.4 million creations and 13.5 billion views alone for “Gnarly,” yet their succeeding hit “Gabriela” also sparked a dance trend, also going viral with 2.8 million creations and 9.9 billion video views on TikTok, furthering its nature as a “global commercial hit” in their words.T
Acknowledging the recognition, KATSEYE released an official statement, saying, “We had an unforgettable year on TikTok, and it was all because of the EYEKONS who showed up for us every single day.” Directing it to their devoted fanbase, they added, “You turned our songs, our moments, and our chaos into something truly global, and we are so grateful for this community.”
Aside from KATSEYE’s recognition as TikTok’s Global Artist of the Year for 2025, the platform also recognized the late Connie Francis’ surprise hit single, “Pretty Little Baby,” as TikTok’s Global Song of the Year. Despite being released in 1962, the track was noted to have been “embraced by millions” of the app’s userbase, earning results of over 28.4 million uses and 68.6 billion views in total.
2025 marks a whirlwind year for KATSEYE, following the release of their sophomore EP, BEAUTIFUL CHAOS, which not only spawned numerous chart-topping hit singles, but also debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart. Earlier this year, the group served as the cover stars for Billboard Philippines‘ August 2025 issue, wherein the group reflected on their tight-knit dynamic, ever-changing creative process, and their role as representatives of various cultures on the global stage.
