After a series of sold-out intimate shows, this veteran hitmaker is finally holding his long-anticipated solo concert.
Today (January 15), it was announced that Johnoy Danao would be headlining his first-ever solo concert titled Liwayway at Dapithapon on March 14 and 15 at the the prestigious Metropolitan Theater (MET) in Manila. Following his previous series of intimate sold-out cafe concerts, the “Ikaw At Ako” hitmaker will be celebrating his 25-year journey of creating his heartfelt tunes with two nights of captivating audiences with a production by Danao and minsan studio.
In an official press statement, Danao expressed that this concert is not only a celebration of his past 25 years in the industry, but furthermore, what’s to come for the artist: “Expect an experience that speaks to the soul. We’ll cradle the tired hearts, minds, and bodies of our audience with the music I’ve written over the past 25 years: some old songs with new twists and fresh tracks that I’m excited to share with everyone for the first time. We also have special guests joining us in this special event.”
Additionally, a special set in the concert will be accompanied by a 15-piece orchestra arranged by the illustrious Ria Villena-Osorio. Commenting on this specially-curated performance, the minsan studio head, Jason Conanan, noted, “We want to offer the audience something different. Johnoy, who usually plays as a solo act, will be supported by a full band, and some of his songs will be reimagined in a lush, orchestral setting that will enrich the experience and bring new dimension to his music. The minsan team is also helping with the creative direction of the show, so it’s a collaboration that we’re really looking forward to.”
