James Reid just dropped a live performance video to his latest single “Sandal.”

The newly released visualizer showcases the singer-songwriter highlighting his impressive stripped-down vocal chops as he sits above a vintage white car. Directed by Miko del Rosario & Tristan Ortega, the setting of the video is reminiscent of a fond memory from a loved one, one that offers reassurance and comfort from Reid himself. As he serenades the camera –– it’s effective in evoking a sense of warmth that is sure to resonate with listeners watching from all around the world.

“Sandal” was co-written by Reid and PLAYERTWO‘s Luke April, and serves as a much-welcome return to Reid’s mellow, pop-leaning roots, with the track’s stripped-down nature and focus on acoustic elements that highlight his silky smooth vocals. The result is a song that perfectly recaptures what made his earlier records so special, yet still manages to integrate the novel aspects of his later discography.

This marks the latest single from the “Randomantic” hitmaker, following the release of his vulnerable lead single “Hurt Me Too,” which dropped in May 2024. Both tracks serve as the first few glimpses of his upcoming (and still-unnamed) extended play, which is expected to be released later this year.
