I.O.I To Return With EP ‘I.O.I: LOOP’ After 9-Year Hiatus

Project girl group I.O.I are finally making a comeback after nine years with a new EP titled I.O.I: LOOP to mark their tenth anniversary.
Confirmed by their label Swing Entertainment, the group dubbed as South Korea’s ‘National Girl Group’ previously teased their reunion by opening a new Instagram account. The announcement of a comeback concert tour named LOOP soon followed, with the group listing their upcoming shows in Seoul, Bangkok, and Hong Kong.
Sparking even more excitement, I.O.I officially announced their long-overdue fan club name, “angdungi,” a callback to what the girls called their supporters during their debut era.
On April 20, the group confirmed the release of their third mini album, I.O.I: LOOP, out on May 19, with a pre-release track dropping on May 4. The group shared a promotion scheduler, with concept photos, music video teasers, a track list, and more to be posted leading up to the album. A mood film was also unveiled, featuring the members present for the reunion.
Swing Entertainment confirms the participation of Lim Na-young, Chungha, Kim Se-jeong, Jung Chae-yeon, Kim So-hye, Yoo Yeon-jung, Choi Yu-jung, Kim Do-yeon, and Jeon Somi in the upcoming group activities. However, fellow members Kang Mi-na and Zhou Jieqiong, will not be joining due to prior commitments.
Formed in 2016 through Mnet’s survival show Produce 101, the project girl group quickly gained popularity with their hit tracks “Pick Me,” “Very Very Very,” and “Whatta Man (Good Man).” They concluded their activities nine months in, ending with a farewell concert in January 2017. Since then, the members have joined other girl groups or have been active through solo work.
Coming full circle, I.O.I’s comeback concert LOOP will take place in Seoul from May 29 to 31, Bangkok on June 6, and Hong Kong on June 20 and 21.
