Frank Ely just released his latest single on a one-of-a-kind physical format.

On October 17, rising Filipino singer-songwriter Frank Ely came out with his new single “Maisayaw.” As a first for the Philippines, the brand new track was also released in a vinyl postcard format, reminiscent of “old record postcards that were sold in the ‘60s and ‘70s in Europe.” It will be playable on any turntable like a normal vinyl record, “embossed with comparatively light plastic grooves” and showcasing “full-colored visuals.”

“Evosound reached out to me to have my single pressed on a postcard vinyl,” Ely shares, stating how he thought it was “cool” to serve as “the pioneering act” in the country to have “one’s song pressed in a format that’s never been done, at least locally.” He also expressed how interesting the way the “music packaging” can be a game-changer as well as “offer an exciting glimpse into the future of releases,” noting how “the possibilities are just endless.”

“Maisayaw” is a kundiman-inspired song that finds Ely “expressing his romantic admiration from a distance, displaying earnestness and levity in the most beautifully understated way.” “The song is a serenade for someone whose heart you want to win, a poem for the person who made you feel something you’ve never felt with anyone else — the one you cannot bear to lose and could never forget if they were to leave,” Ely shares in a press statement, noting how the track was originally created back in 2023 for “his now-girlfriend but wasn’t fully produced at the time because he didn’t want the logistical limitations to get in the way of its quality and potential.”

A year later, Ely was signed to the Evosound Philippines record label, giving him the necessary means to properly bring the heartfelt track to life in the studio. “It was great working with my producer, Paulo Agudelo, who understood the assignment and brought my vision back to life,” he comments, noting that what he liked about Agudelo’s “treatment” was how “it sounded perfectly aligned with the sonic direction” of the previous work made by Ely while being “redressed with a more sophisticated and refined approach.”

Limited to 300 pieces only, the vinyl single of “Maisayaw” can now be ordered from Evosound Philippines. More details can be found here.

“Maisayaw” serves as the follow-up to Frank Ely’s single “Kailangan Mo Ba Ang Puso Ko,” released last June 7; as well as his EP Homemade Love Songs, which came out last February 9.
