Today (September 8, 2025), beloved third-generation K-pop boy group EXO has announced their long-awaited return, set for later this year in December.

In the post announcing the nine-piece’s return, the group posted a photo showing two moons mirroring each other, creating an illusion of light that subtly spells out “EXO.” Additionally, in the same photo, boldly written in all caps, is the message, “When we become true one, a new world awakens.” At the bottom, a message written in a smaller font reads, “The day the Red Force is purified and the legends reunite into one perfect root, a new world shall open up.”

Additional details about this musical drop (release specifics, member lineup, and more) have yet to be announced — watch this space for updates.

This marks EXO’s first comeback as a group in two years, following their seventh full-length album EXIST, which was released in July 2023. Each of the eight members has since then been completing their mandatory military service, the last of whom is the group’s youngest, Sehun, who is scheduled to be discharged this September 20.

In related news, the group’s main vocalist, Baekhyun, is set to hold a concert in Manila on October 18, 2025, for his ‘Reverie‘ World Tour. Buy your tickets here.
