Pop band Cup Of Joe are back with another single titled “Misteryoso” (Mystery).
The upbeat love song tells the story of someone hoping for their love interest to notice them. The song premiered on all streaming platforms today (May 17) after a series of teasers that were dropped earlier this month. Many fans have been clamoring for the band to release the song ever since they originally performed it during their solo concert held last February.
Shadiel Chan, who produced the song, shared in a press statement, “‘Misteryoso’ was made with the intention of fusing classic OPM with modern pop. We also added ear-tickling elements in unexpected parts of the song, mixed with a fairytale-like atmosphere.”
“Misteryoso” was written by the band’s co-lead singer Gian Bernardino and co-produced by the entire band, including co-lead vocalist Raphael Ridao, guitarists CJ Fernandez and Gab Fernandez, keyboardist Xen Gareza, and bassist Raphael Severino.
“Misteryoso” is their second single of the year, following the release of “Lahat Ng Bukas” featuring singer-songwriter Keanna Mag in February.
The band are best known for songs like “Estranghero” (Stranger), “Ikaw Pa Rin Ang Pipiliin Ko” (You Are Still The One I Choose), and “Tingin” (Look) featuring Janine Teñoso, which landed on the Billboard Philippines Songs Charts last year. Their debut EP Patutunguhan (Destination) was named as one of Billboard Philippines’ top 15 albums and EPs of 2023, where we said, “With a cover that echoes The Beatles’ classic Abbey Road artwork, it seems as if alt-pop band Cup Of Joe knew that they were destined for stardom in the same vein as the English supergroup was.”
