Five years past its initial release, Charli XCX‘s “party 4 u” has received an official music video.

The belated success of the sentimental hyper-pop single has resulted in the release of a new music video, which showcases the Englsh pop sensation navigating feelings of loneliness, despite the facade she presents of her underlying success in the music industry.

The music video for “party 4 u” comes at the fifth anniversary of Charli’s fourth studio album, how I’m feeling now, which was released during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The single was crafted alongside ten other tracks on the record that were written, conceptualized, and released from Charli’s own home — making its belated success even all the more impressive.

Directed by Mitch Ryan, the visualizer was based on idea conceptualized by Charli that leans towards the raw and unfiltered nature of how I’m feeling now‘s themes. Check it out for yourself below:

In an Instagram post released earlier this week, she explained that she was releasing the video as a celebration of the record turning five years old. “It honestly just feels like yesterday,” she posted. “So much has changed since then. Me, my life, elements of my music and most definitely the world. I made the album in just 5 weeks, from conception to release, entirely publicly in collaboration with all of you. It was so special. I felt like I rediscovered myself, my sanity + my sense of connection with the world, at a time where we were all so alone.”

“To create with all of you helped me feel OK. It was all of us at our most raw, our most stripped, our most vulnerable. I will never forget it, and I really can’t believe that 5 years later one of the angel favorites is having its own special moment. So obviously I wanted to do something to celebrate… This ones for you angels. Love, Charli.”

The track currently stands at No. 13 on the Billboard Philippines Hot 100 chart (dated May 17, 2025), following its viral nature and prevalence across a variety of social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, and showcasing its impressive hold over Philippine audiences. Even in the United States, the song has found similar success, peaking at No. 55 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

Over the past year alone, Charli XCX has found viral success and has achieved new career heights following the release of her sixth studio album BRAT, which went on to receive critical and commercial acclaim worldwide, in addition to its status as a zeitgeist moment in modern pop culture. The record was followed up by an accompanying remix album that featured the likes of Billie Eilish, Lorde, Addison Rae, The 1975, Caroline Polachek, and several other pop luminaries collaborating with the hyper-pop icon.
