Chappell Roan has just given fans a sneak peek of her forthcoming era, beginning with her new single “The Giver.”

The rising pop superstar debuted the unapologetically sapphic and country-pop track during her first Saturday Night Live appearance last November 2, wherein she surprised audiences present with the single. With a chorus stating, “Take it like a taker, ’cause baby I’m a giver / Ain’t no need to help me, ’cause baby I deliver / Ain’t no country boy quitter / I get the job done,” it further emphasizes her headstrong yet empowering lyricism, which is perfectly complemented by pitch-perfect belting. By the time the track hits its bridge, Roan makes it a point to loudly proclaim: “All you country boys saying you know how to treat a woman right? / Well, only a woman knows how to treat a woman right!”

Before performing “The Giver,” Chappell also performed the heartfelt and cathartic track “Pink Pony Club,” which served as the first single off her smash-hit debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. The two performances were met with widespread acclaim, with audiences present singing along to both tracks.

“The Giver” serves as the latest glimpse off Chappell’s highly anticipated sophomore album, following the single “Good Luck, Babe!” as well as the unreleased singles “Read & Makeout” as well as “Subway.” Though there are no further details that have been publicly shared with regards to the record, fans can stay tuned at this space for any future updates regarding the pop star and her upcoming music.

On this week’s Billboard Philippines Hot 100 chart (dated November 2, 2024), Chappell currently has two entries charting — with “Good Luck, Babe!” positioning itself at No. 17, while the crowd-favorite “HOT TO GO!” stands at No. 79. The former has become a mainstay on the Philippines Hot 100 chart, having spent over eighteen weeks on the chart since its official release to the public.
