Last March 5, it was announced that the King of Budots who took the genre to an international stage, DJ Love, went into critical condition and was being hospitalized in a public hospital in Davao, undergoing several tests.

As of March 18, it has been announced that DJ Love, or Sherwin Calumpang Tuna, has undergone “a successful angioplasty to address his blocked arteries and has also completed a series of successful treatments.” As such, he has now been discharged from the hospital and is now on the road to recovery.

In a post announcing the previous condition of the DJ written by his manager and fellow DJ obese.dogma777 or Jorge Wieneke V, he expressed, “We’re stuck in a frustrating limbo, and time is slipping away. He needs urgent, specialized medical care, and we refuse to settle for anything less than the best for him.” While specifics have not been disclosed, his team is currently raising Php. 1.2 million to cover his heart surgery, hospital expenses, medications, and post-treatment care.

With this, Wieneke started a donation drive to move Sherwin Calumpang Tuna to a better hospital to get prioritized and immediate medical attention. “If you’ve ever shared a dance floor with him, been moved by his music, or simply believe in supporting the people who make our scene what it is—please help. Every donation, share, and show of support makes a difference.” He adds, “His birthday is coming up on April 1, and the best gift we can give him is the chance to keep living, creating, and being here for his family.”
